The great adventure to United Kingdom will not complete without stepping to Scotland with a road trip. Lucky me, I had the route “Edinburgh – Isle of Skye – Inverness – Edinburgh” with 3 wonderful travel mates.
Scotland is popular for lots of legends and myths. But expect tons of greenery, lakes and castles. The weather is great at the hottest summer and dreadfully cold at the coldest winter. The road pavement is totally well maintained for backpacker and no worries on the bumpy road. Be prepared to be enthralled by the picturesque mountains, crystal clear lakes and panoramic waterfalls.
A few things that you shouldn’t miss out:
Lochness is well known for the sighting of the sea monster during 1930’s. It’s pointless to even try to spot the monster, just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Eileen Donan Castle
This is one of the most photographed castles in the world and it has appeared in commercially successful movies such as: Entrapment, Made of Honor and The World is Not Enough.
Hiking in the Isle of Skye
There are countless great spots for hiking. Be careful of the unguarded cliff and foggy weather, and try to spot more waterfalls. It’s just beautiful!
Life is pretty much comfortable and laid back for the locals and I wonder how they could have the motivation to work in such a beautiful countryside.
