Sai Kung, Hong Kong: Where Is The Best Beach in Hong Kong?

Some days, when in Hong Kong, we just want to escape from the skyscrapers, the traffic and the fast-paced crowd. When tourists ask me if there is any nature-friendly spot in Hong Kong where they can get away from the city’s hustle and bustle, I always find it hard-pressed to answer.

However, after my hiking trip to Sai Kung, the answer is now obvious. The three beaches in Sai Kung, which are Sai Wan, Ham Tin Wan and Tai Wan, easily make it to my “Best Beaches” list in Hong Kong. All three beaches have their special traits and attractions. The idyllic beaches and superb coastlines will leave you wondering: “Am I really in Hong Kong?”

Going to these beaches can be quite challenging, especially during summer time. It is good to allocate a full day of excursion to Sai Kung. Besides the beaches, there are more places to discover in Sai Kung!

How to reach:
Take the MTR to Choi Hung (green line), get out at Exit C and get the green minibus to Sai Kung. From Sai Kung, take the 29R Minibus or a green taxi to the Sai Wan Pavilion.

  1. When I went to HK, I fancied a beach day, so asked as many locals as I could where the best beach is. Lamma Island was the one more people told me to go to. It was good, but doesn’t look as good as this one!

  2. Yea, Hong Kong have lot of natural trails for hikers and people who want a day off without the husker of tourists… Every time I went back to Hong Kong I follow a group of my friends for hiking to get out of the hustle of the city and it is soo cool to enjoy all the natural trails for a walk and enjoy the natural waterfall to cool down the heat of the day.
    Great post
