New Year in Japan: A Great Day to Start!

New Year’s Day in Japan is one of the most significant occasions for the Japanese. It is the time that most of them will return to their homes to have a heart-warming gathering with sumptuous food served. Normally on the first few days of the New Year, offices are closed. Commonly, some households will display green plants and bamboo decorations in front of their houses while others will take this opportunity to visit their relatives for a brief catch-up. Shrines and temples are packed with people praying for blessings and a prosperous new year. As for me, my celebration of the New Year in Japan was packed with a great dinner!
