There are several ways to enjoy Hakone, notably: mountain railway, cable car, ropeway, and boat cruises. All of these modes of transportation will take you around Hakone in one big circle from the sulfur pits of Owakudani to the gorgeous Lake Ashinoko. To make moving around even easier, there is a popular “Hakone Free Pass” that provides unlimited use of those transportation for several days. “Hakone Free Pass” can be purchased at Shinjuku Station or Odawara Station. For a budget traveler, this free pass is the best way to save up those yen!

Although it can get fairly busy on a holiday season, heading to Hakone for the hot springs during the winter remains a trip of great satisfaction.
